Building the Excelsior Nike-G (part 1)

The Nike-G was the last of the pre-2016 build pile rockets, dating in fact to 2013 when I bought the decals and plans from Excelsior. I’ve finally started on it. Ready for all the gory build details? Tough. It’s a Baby Bertha with different fins and decals, big whoop.

Well, okay, it’s a little different. The instructions recommend setting the motor mount forward, with the hook flush with the end of the body tube, to improve stability. And I installed a guide straw for a removable Kevlar leader.img_1841And it’s not pink. Yes, I finally worked through that whole pack of cotton swabs with the pink sticks, and started on a new pack with white ones.
